In 2023, the Wood River Women’s Foundation awarded a partial grant of $2,200 to the Wood River Wolf Project. In prior grant cycles, WRWF has awarded a total of $38,018 to this organization when they functioned under the name Lava Lake Institute. Below Suzanne Asha Stone, Director of the International Wildlife Coexistence Network and Co-Founder of the Wood River Wolf Project, shares an update for our members. This summer has been busy for the Wood River Early Learning Collaborative (WRELC), which created a new website, Facebook page and local childcare services directory in June, and more recently unveiled a Strategic Action Plan to guide decision-making over the next three years.

2023 Grantee North Blaine County First District has already put the funds from their $20,000 grant to use! A groundbreaking celebration for the construction of first responder housing at the Greenhorn Fire Station located at East Fork Road and Highway 75 took place on 6/7. Many supporters gathered under the threat of thunderstorms to acknowledge the dedication, hard work, and collaboration that has taken place over the last three years to bring this project to life.

Nestled off Red-Feather Way within the Colorado Gulch Preserve is the Wood River Land Trust’s 9-acre Community Orchard, a complete outdoor community environmental education hub designed to engage with student groups, volunteers, and other partner organizations.

We are delighted to announce that The Wood River Women’s Foundation (WRWF) members voted to award 22 Idaho nonprofits that serve the Wood River Valley with grants totaling $353,450 in 2023. Since its founding in 2005, WRWF has awarded 215 pooled grants surpassing $3.4 million to nonprofits throughout Blaine County.
2023 March News Brief
In 2022, the Wood River Women’s Foundation granted Wood River Fire & Rescue $18,526 to purchase and deploy around a dozen automated external defibrillators (AEDs) with first responders and police throughout the community to improve survival during out-of-hospital cardiac episodes.
2023 February News Brief
The lease packages provided to all the Rota Rippers and Rota Ravens participants who need equipment is paid for by Kids Mountain Fund (KMF). Without the $6,500 grant secured from WRWF it would be much more difficult and likely not possible for our families to participate.

How has the WRWF grant furthered the mission of The Space at this moment in time?
The Wood River Women’s Foundation made it possible for The Space to continue for a successful second year our Forward Learning Scholars Program that provides free, high quality, individualized tutoring, snacks and school supplies to a group of twenty 6th to 9th grade students.
