The Wood River Women’s Foundation will begin taking grant applications Sunday, Jan. 15.

The window for Blaine County nonprofits to apply for the organization’s 2023 grants will open at 8 a.m. Jan. 15 and close at midnight on Jan. 29.

This year grant requests may be used not only for new or current projects but for the sustainability of the organization, said Renee Spooner, a spokesperson for the Foundation.

The Wood River Women’s Foundation awards grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 after viewing applications, conducting site visits and listen to applicant presentations. Awarded grants will be distributed in April/May 2023.

The women’s philanthropic organization awarded a record-breaking $348,000 to Idaho nonprofits in 2022. That was more than $43,000 above what the organization’s 325 members awarded the year before, said Terri Bullock, who served as president during that grant cycle.

Grants went to nonprofits supporting housing, education, outdoor initiatives and emergency, social and therapeutic services. Organizations receiving grants included The Advocates, ARCH Community Housing, the Blaine County Charitable Fund, Ketchum Fire Department, Men’s Second Chance Living and Higher Ground Sun Valley.

“We are honored to collectively support those doing the work to deliver services throughout our community, especially in a difficult pandemic-driven environment,” said Bullock.

Since its founding in 2005, the organization has awarded 183 grants surpassing $3 million.
