The Senior Connection
As we age, our need for community support, good nutrition, and accessible care grows. For many older adults in Blaine County, rising living costs, limited transportation, and health challenges make it difficult to access regular, healthy meals. That’s where The Senior Connection steps in. In 2025, the Wood River Women’s Foundation (WRWF) granted $25,000 to The Senior Connection’s meal program, helping deliver thousands of fresh, nutritious meals to seniors who depend on them for their health, independence, and well-being.

Beyond a Meal: Connection, Care, and Independence

The Senior Connection serves more than just food—it delivers dignity. Through Meals on Wheels and on-site dining, the organization provides:

  • Home-delivered meals to seniors who are isolated or unable to shop or cook

  • Daily wellness checks from trained drivers who monitor health and safety

  • Social opportunities through group meals and events at the senior center

  • Nutrition education and support to improve overall health outcomes

With WRWF’s funding, The Senior Connection will continue to deliver over 32,000 meals annually, keeping seniors nourished and supported. The grant will help purchase ingredients, pay drivers, maintain kitchen operations, and reach more seniors—especially in outlying areas of Blaine County.

Health and Stability for an Aging Population

Food insecurity among older adults can lead to higher rates of illness, hospitalization, and early institutional care. Meal delivery programs have been proven to reduce health risks, improve mobility, and allow seniors to live independently longer.

WRWF’s investment in The Senior Connection ensures that seniors receive not just calories, but well-balanced meals tailored to their needs—all delivered with a smile, a kind word, and a sense of connection that is often missing for isolated individuals.

Supporting Those Who Built This Community

WRWF understands that supporting seniors is about honoring those who helped shape our valley. From retired teachers and veterans to small business owners and long-time volunteers, Blaine County’s older adults deserve to age with dignity and security.

This grant reflects WRWF’s ongoing commitment to whole-community care, where every stage of life is valued, and every person has access to basic needs like food, companionship, and respect.
