Wood River Women’s Foundation Asks for Grant Applications

by SONYA WILANDER

Hailey, ID – MARCH, 2023– Men’s Second Chance Living (MSCL House) has been awarded a St. Luke’s Community Health Improvement Fund grant toward

House Programs and Support Services for our second house for the fiscal year 2023.

MSCL House realized a long-term goal in October 2022, adding a second sober house in Hailey with a mission to help more men succeed in their recovery from substance abuse disorder. Since its inception, the organization has operated with a waitlist for services with demand exceeding capacity. The addition of the second house will support up to an additional 16 mean each year.

Funds from St. Luke’s CHIF will help provide equitable access to proven and critical programs run by MSCL House to all residents. These include safe and sober living; access to medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health care service providers; nutrition assistance; activities that promote healthy living; financial education classes and Matched $avings accounts; and funding for higher education and vocational training. MSCL House could not do this work without the generosity of the community and support from organizations like St. Luke’s. MSCL House is grateful to have St. Luke’s as a partner supporting MSCL House to serve the Wood River Valley.

MSCL House Executive Director and Founder Sonya Wilander said, “Thank you to St. Luke’s for coming alongside us and supporting the work we do in the community. We look forward to a successful year of operating to the highest standard.”

Funds from CHIF will directly benefit residents of both houses, improving the possibility of maintaining long-term sobriety and rejoining community and families in productive and meaningful roles.
